PAUL VAN

HOEYDONCK
June 2nd 1971 a middleman talks the Apollo 15 crew into taking a little sculpture of Paul Van Hoeydonck to the Moon, secretly. Shortly before the launch of Apollo 15 Van Hoeydonck is shocked by the deaths of the Soyuz 11 cosmonauts. He starts working on a piece of art to honor the Soyuz 11 crew, ignorant of the fact that the Apollo 15 crew will use his little sculpture as part of a very comparable memorial, on the Moon.

Paul Van Hoeydonck is a Belgian painter and sculptor of international renown. His work is exposed from the MoMA Museum of Modern Art in New York to The Vatican in Rome (Italy)
